If Only the John’s Had Won the 2004 Election
By Chuck Hyde, Editor of StandBesideHer.com

George Bush won the 2004 election over John Kerry and John Edwards. I am not alone in thinking that what this did was save the country, and the rest of the world, from a couple of absolute idiots.

I realize that there are those who believe that things would be going better in Iraq and the rest of the world if they had won. Whether they want to admit it or not, this is simply wrong. We had the Defeatocrats in charge of our national security before. What we got for this is practically every country in the Middle East openly sponsoring terror, North Korea building their Nuclear program after Clinton’s “deal” to get them to stop, and three unanswered terrorist attacks against the US - we know how doing nothing about terrorism for eight years turned out. To be fair we did retaliate once. To divert attention one of the numerous times Clinton got caught cheating, we bombed a chemical factory in North Africa that even his own Attorney General told him wasn’t connected to terrorism. That sent a stern message to the terrorists in the Middle East.

There are two obvious problems with having John and John oversee our national security. One is John Kerry’s complete and total contempt for the military. From his fraudulent congressional testimony during the Vietnam era, to his protesting and throwing someone else’s metals over the White House fence, to his ‘dummies get stuck in the military’ remark, John Kerry has made it clear how he thinks about our military and by extension our national security. Second is John Kerry’s inability to stick with a decision. Could you possibly imagine this man in control of a war theater? The troops wouldn’t know from day to day what the plan was. An argument can be made that the war has been mismanaged, I would agree to an extent, but we are killing a lot of terrorists who would gladly detonate a bomb in Times Square on New Years eve if they were not otherwise engaged in Iraq. Slowly again so the Defeatocrats can catch up, killing these terrorists there before they can kill our children here is called winning.

The bottom line is the Defeatocrats do not understand the war on terror. I will also say this next part slowly for them. If Al Qaeda is our enemy, and they want to destroy our way of life, then if we are killing Al Qaeda in Iraq, we are fighting the war on terror there. I don’t know how this is so incredibly hard to understand.

Now we have John Edwards running for president again. Keeping with tradition, this John is not only showing as much contempt for our brave men and women in the military as John Kerry, but is also proving that Kerry cannot hold a candle to him when it comes to not caring about national defense. Edwards, on his website, is calling for nationwide protests against the Iraq war on Memorial Day. Let’s be sure we fully understand this. On a day meant to honor our brave men and women who have lost their lives in the service of their country, Edwards want to protest them while they are actively risking their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan. This has reached a level of contempt that may even make Jane Fonda blush (though I doubt it).

As I write this, the news is reporting that one of the three kidnapped soldiers in Iraq has been found dead. Pfc. Joseph Anzack Jr., 20, has been found dead and the search continues for Spc. Alex R. Jimenez, 25, and Pvt. Byron W. Fouty, 19. Maybe John Edwards can explain to the parents of Mr. Anzack and the other parents how Memorial Day is the appropriate time for his campaign stunt.

Next, Edwards calls the War on Terror a bumper sticker slogan. While he was clearly trying to attack Bush, because nothing fires up the Defeatocrats like attacking the Commander in Chief during a time of war, the underlying sentiment should scare the hell out of us. The thought that he relegates the War on Terror to a political slogan shows a depth of disinterest that even John Kerry may not be able to attain. John Edward’s only concern is to make political points with the Defeatocrats. The concept that we are actually in a war against terrorists who want to kill us doesn’t escape John Edwards, he’s not stupid. He just doesn’t care. Most of the candidates on both sides appear to have an honest dedication to their country and a real belief that what they propose is what is best for the country. As with everybody else, I think some of their ideas are wrong and some are right, this disagreement is what makes our political system strong. Whether I agree with them or not though, I believe that most of them are coming form the right place. With the possible exception of Hillary Clinton, Edwards is a candidate who I genuinely believe cares about nothing but what will get him elected. All we need now is for Al Gore and John Kerry to run again (they are both thinking about it) to make the Democratic primary a ship of fools. Let’s just hope history repeats itself and we keep these fools out of the White House. That’s what’s on my mind.
