If A Leftist Lunatic Rants And No One Hears It,
Does She Really Make A Sound?

Gloria Steinem is back and spewing her hatred. This time it’s about John McCain and
his stint in the Vietnam POW camp. Ms. Steinem belittled Mr. McCain’s 5+ years stay and
torture as being irrelevant and does not qualify him for president. Ms. Steinem, a Hillary
Clinton supporter seems to think that being first lady does qualify you. I realize that Ms.
Clinton is a US Senator but so is Mr. McCain, for significantly longer. So, what else qualifies them?
Mr. McCain served in Vietnam and spent 5+ years in a POW camp being tortured.
He was selected to leave after 3 years but gave his spot up until other men left,
facing more than 2 more years of captivity and torture. Mr. McCain has fought special
interests his entire career.
Ms. Clinton was first lady for eight years. Ms. Clinton lead a commission in a failed attempt to
nationalize our health care, a dream she apparently has not given up on based on her recent
comments. Ms. Clinton, along with her husband President Clinton, survived several scandals
and managed to stay out of jail. Ms. Clinton has spent her entire career bowing to special interests.
With all of this, lets not forget the contribution of Ms. Steinem. Wait, give me a minute,
I’m sure there’s something. While Mr. McCain was spending time in the Hanoi Hilton
being tortured, Ms. Steinem was back her in the US trying to undermine the country.
We haven’t even heard from Ms. Steinem, the great American defender of women’s
rights, since the Clinton administration when she lost any credibility she had defending
a president who elevated sexual harassment of women to an art form never seen
before. President Clinton’s sexcapades were so bad, they embarrassed congressmen,
at least the ones who like girls.
As usual though the real story here is not the story, we expect disdain of the military
from the loony left, the story is the lack of coverage of the incident. Naturally Fox News reported it.
This is why the left hates Fox, because they report the facts, even if it means violating the
unwritten media rule and not coddling the Democrats. The Drudge Report covered, but then
he’s not going to let a juicy story like this pass by unnoticed. From what I can see though
that is all at the time of this writing (Monday 33/08, 9:00 am, approximately 12 hours after the speech).
MSNBC.com did not have the story on it’s front page although it did have several
political headlines, primarily about the Democratic race. Although I did find out on the
front page that the Iditarod race started in Alaska, cool but not up to the same level as
Ms. Steinem’s remarks. Also, it seems that MSNBC.com has the exclusive news that
Jamie Lynn Spears is expecting a boy. Thank goodness they dug this up, this is clearly front page news.
Yahoo.com, one of the most popular news sites on the internet, nothing. I went in
all the way to their politics page and the story wasn’t covered. There were 30+
stories on this page and none of them were a primary article on Ms. Steinem although
they did manage to repeat an article questioning whether the endorsement of
Mr. McCain by John Hagee, a televangelist, will hurt McCain. Maybe they thought
this story was so important they had to bump the Steinem story to repeat so we would be sure to see it.
On CNN.com there was nothing on the front page so I went to the politics page and
right there in front of me was, you guessed it, more nothing. Although it does seem
that the Dallas Morning News is endorsing Mike Huckabee. No offense to Mr. Huckabee,
I like him, but considering he is currently down in the polls by about 97% in Texas, it
would be hard to find a less relevant study to headline.
This brings us to ABCnews.go.com. I’m not even going to waste my time saying it.
Let’s just say that a couple of stories that they found more important than the Gloria
Steinem story is that Hillary Clinton appeared on Saturday Night Live and that Lindsay
Lohan, apparently out of rehab has appeared partially or totally nude in not one but two
magazines. While this story, like any story about the current crop of drunken pop starlets
is sad, it is clearly not as important about the story they chose to ignore.
Finally, and I want to say here that I should get special recognition for trolling the
liberal “news” sites, we come to CBSnews.com. At the risk of sounding redundant,
they had nothing anywhere on their site. Although, to their credit they did run the
Hagee endorsement of McCain only once.
So as usual with political stories, the real story is the lack of the telling of it.
I have said this approximately several times and will say it at least as
many more, the main stream media has become nothing more than the
public relations arm of the Democratic Party. They typically only have so
many choices to choose from when running political stories: if it’s positive
and about a Republican ignore it, if it’s negative and about a Democrat ignore it,
play very loose with the numbers, ignore facts that don’t fit
the story, or if all else fails, make the
story up (see previous link). As I said earlier, this is why liberals hate Fox News.
In the past they did not have to worry about having to answer for their actions and
statements. Now with Fox News reporting “fair and balanced” stories, the
Democrats can’t hide behind the main stream media. That’s what on my mind.
